IT Area Lead of Data Management
The IT Area Lead of Data Management will be the driving force of ING’s data management for Wholesale Banking Tech in The Netherlands. They will be responsible for one of its largest data lakes and optimally leverage its contents to strengthen the bank’s position as the digital standard in its industry.
Taking ownership for the overall health of the company’s data management, the Data Lead will develop ING’s roadmap for data and analytics capabilities, execute its delivery, confidently lead agile teams, provide clear direction, and ensure quality and its pace of release. This role works proactively, continuously analyzing processes, assessing any potential risks, and redesigning them to avoid situations that may become an issue for the bank’s future data management. They develop and implement streamlined IT policies to improve efficiencies, reduce risks, and consider main data principles, data transformation techniques, functional management, and market trends. They also have experience working with large data sets and the tools that process them, including Hadoop®.
As the visionary of the transformation of ING’s data architecture, the IT Area Lead of Data Management will be responsible for developing the architecture, as well as implementing new ways of working to ensure it runs seamlessly. Utilizing strong leadership and project management skills, this role will bring structure, discipline, and inspiration to their team of more than one hundred data and platform engineers in The Netherlands, Romania, and India. They will report to the IT Lead Cross Product Services (CPS) and collaborate with the local IT Area Lead in Romania to jointly oversee the onsite team. They will offer team motivation, guidance, and mentorship, creating a first-class agile working environment to attract and retain the best engineers, and encourage innovative thinking around data, analytics, and AI.
Curious and hands-on, the IT Area Lead of Data Management is eager to deeply understand the organization and its data management down to the smallest detail. They immerse themselves in their new role, both technically and personally, to understand underlying issues, opportunities, and dynamics of the cross-border organization. This role is ideal for a strong people leader with a background in data management, architecture, and delivery.
