With a staff of only forty, Trifleet Leasing’s global reach is impressive. They are ranked as in the top six players in the industry. Trifleet Leasing has offices near major port cities, like Rotterdam, with headquarters in Dordrecht, Hamburg, Houston, Shanghai and Singapore, as well as commercial agents on several continents.
Two years ago, GATX, a Chicago-based railcar leasing firm, acquired Trifleet Leasing. This strengthens Trifleet Leasing’s position in the market by leveraging GATX’s global customer base and extensive experience. As a global leader in the railcar leasing market, GATX has the capabilities to drive long-term value creation for Trifleet Leasing.
While their tank containers travel the world, Trifleet acts as a financial service provider rather than a logistics provider. They focus mainly on commercial activities and financial and legal administration, with compliance playing an important role. Trifleet outsources logistics to partners as well as testing and modifying containers to ensure quality and safety. But Trifleet Leasing remains responsible and their team ensures every transaction is fast, transparent, and meets the highest compliance standards.

Director of Digital Transformation
The Director of Digital Transformation is responsible for digitization and process optimization across Trifleet’s operations. They report to the Managing Director, are part of the Management Team, and lead a small team of process managers.
To enhance further growth, Trifleet Leasing is improving process management and adding more automation. Examples in their daily operations include automating test certificate processes and standardizing and digitizing their financial administration.
This role will identify and streamline the processes of modification, maintenance, and tank container repair. The Director will also set up a trusted database that captures each tank container’s details, from its modifications to which chemicals and goods it may carry.
In addition, the Director of Digital Transformation will focus on digitization. This ranges from commercial activities such as the sales process for standard tank containers, to quality management of building digital twins for key assets. The role will also identify the potential for Internet of Things in smart asset management.
And lastly, the Director of Digital Transformation will implement and manage an appropriate IT architecture. They’ll decide between strategic outsourcing versus developing digital capabilities in-house to ensure optimal functionality while staying cost-effective. A robust data management strategy and infrastructure is vital to the Trifleet Leasing’s future.
This is an ideal fit for an experienced product owner, IT consultant, or a digital transformation manager who gets up to speed on new topics and processes quickly and knows how to get things done. Someone who enjoys taking an entrepreneurial approach by actively getting involved is an important part of this position. Experience with the financial services industry, or another compliance-heavy industry, will help the Director of Digital Transformation understand Trifleet Leasing’s business model and challenges better – and make the right decisions. Affinity with the international logistics industry is expected, but previous work experience in the industry is not required.
