Head of Business Control
With over 3 million people that regularly work out, fitness is by far the most popular sport in the Netherlands. Fit For Free and SportCity are two of the biggest chains of health clubs in the country and have recently switched owners. The new Head of Business Control leads the Business Control department. He/she creates more visibility on performance – e.g. through automated and standardized reporting processes – and is a true sparring partner for the business.
ABOUT FIT FOR FREE & SPORTCITY
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a seasoned athlete or totally new to fitness, Fit For Free and SportCity have everything you need. The gyms offer the highest quality equipment, innovative formats, affordable memberships, and professional fitness instructors.
In 2009, Fit For Free and SportCity came together with the strategy to rapidly increase market penetration in the Netherlands. Over the past 10 years, the two brands doubled their revenue through impressive organic growth and selective acquisitions. Fit For Free now operates 93 clubs across the country and has about 330,000 members. SportCity has 20+ gyms and a total of 55,000 members.
In September 2018 Bencis Capital Partners acquired Fit For Free and SportCity. Bencis put in place new leadership and is looking to strengthen their growth and development strategy. This will enable further (international) expansion and allows Fit For Free and SportCity to continuously improve the quality of their gyms and services.
Requirements*
- Master degree in Business Economics or similar
- 10+ years in business control
- Experience in PE and/or Retail
- Expert in modeling, BI and Excel

HEAD OF BUSINESS CONTROL
The Head of Business Control is primarily responsible for providing visibility on performance metrics such as e.g. growth, member satisfaction, asset utilization, retention, and cost efficiency. They drive the monthly management reporting process and owns the budgeting, planning and control cycle.
The Head of Business Control manages the business control department and works closely with the Head of Finance Control, the business owners and the CFO, to whom they report directly.

The key challenge is to lead the business control department towards a more professional and automated way of working. The Head of Business Control introduces automated processes, dashboards and tooling to create real-time reporting with forward-looking insights.
The Head of Business Control supports and challenges the business with relevant and to the point management information. They do not just provide the numbers but acts as a sparring partner for business owners and the CFO. The Head of Business Control develops and analyzes KPI dashboards, reviews budgets, and monitors synergies.
